Sound folders and tabs

Your sound library is simply folders on your PC. Resound plays the files where they are, without copying them, and each folder becomes a tab in the phone app.

Add folders

Open Settings → Sound library (or click Folders on the home page). Then drag folders from Explorer onto Drop sound folders here, or click the field or Add folder… to choose one. Empty folders are fine: fill them later.

From folders to tabs

  • Every folder you add becomes a tab, and so does every subfolder with sounds, down to 8 levels. Deeper ones are named by their path, such as “Anime › Naruto”.
  • Supported files: MP3, WAV, FLAC and OGG.
  • Each tab lists its newest sounds first.
  • Folders whose names start with . or $ are skipped.
  • On the phone you can arrange the tabs in any order. Favorites always comes first.

Refresh after changes in Explorer

After adding, renaming or editing files in Explorer, click the refresh button on the Sound library page or next to Folders on the home page. Resound picks up new and changed files and new subfolders, and drops library folders that no longer exist. Phones update by themselves.

Rename and move files freely

Favorites, volumes, colors and emoji stay with a sound when you rename it or move it to another folder, even to another drive once Resound has read the file. A copy of a file is a new sound with its own settings.

Remove a folder

Click the trash button next to a library folder, then Remove. The folder and its files stay on disk. Its sounds' settings are kept for 30 days, in case you add the folder back.

Click a folder in the list to open it in Explorer.

Reading new sounds

When you add sounds, Resound reads each file once in the background (“Reading… 12 / 40”) to learn its length and loudness. You can play sounds before it's done.
